We reviewed various studies to see how effective glucosamine and similar chondroprotectors are for treating chronic back pain.

Our findings indicated that these drugs may provide pain relief comparable to traditional anti-inflammatory medications, showing potential benefits in reducing inflammation and improving function.

However, the overall evidence suggests that while they can help with osteoarthritis, the support for back pain relief specifically remains limited. This means glucosamine might not be the go-to treatment for everyone suffering from back issues.

We examined the effectiveness of a chondroprotector called Sustagard Artro against traditional nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for easing lower back pain.

Our study involved sixty patients with spondylarthrosis, divided into two groups receiving either Sustagard Artro or NSAIDs.

After treatment, both groups showed a similar level of pain relief, with no significant differences in effectiveness. This suggests that Sustagard Artro may be a viable alternative to NSAIDs for back pain management.

Glucosamine injections not effective
We examined the effectiveness of glucosamine injections for treating chronic lower back pain in a pilot study. Thirty participants, all struggling with severe back pain for an average of 8.5 years, received injections into their lumbar discs.

After one year, we compared their pain and disability scores to see if there were improvements. Unfortunately, the results indicated no significant change in their condition. While this study highlights the need for more rigorous trials, we're left with no strong evidence to support glucosamine injections for back pain relief.

Significant pain relief

Everything is real; I am writing two months after starting the treatment. I am 55 and have meniscus issues in both legs due to old sports injuries, and I refused surgery. After researching, I began taking glucosamine. After one and a half months, I felt results—I can now run up four flights of stairs without pain and descend without discomfort or crunching in my knees. Previously, getting out of bed was excruciating, taking ages just to straighten my knees. Glucosamine truly works, and I hope my review helps others. Wishing good health to everyone!

Hip pain eliminated

Six years ago, I fell and injured my hip, developing severe pain thereafter. After taking this product for a couple of years, I am now pain-free in that hip. It took a year to see results, largely because I delayed treatment and relied only on Advil. Now, I have eliminated the need for any pain medication.

Pain-free for a year

For years, I've struggled with musculoskeletal issues due to congenital dysplasia. Although surgery is still a way off, pain has greatly troubled me. I received regular Diprospan injections in my hip joint, but after starting glucosamine, I enjoyed a whole year without pain! It genuinely works, and I intend to order more.

Joint pain relief
It takes time to prove its efficacy. Initially, I noticed no special effect. After three months, however, I felt significantly better. The back pain really alleviated, and I will continue taking it.

Minor improvement
I purchased these dietary supplements for my mother, as she has had troubling joints for several years, particularly her left knee. They are decent as they last long. After asking her weekly for updates, the first week was promising, but her joints began to hurt in the second week, and she limped slightly. By weeks four to five, everything seemed normal and the back pain had vanished. Though there has been some improvement, it's quite subtle. The product quality is good, but I don’t think it will earn a full five stars due to the slow results.

Reduced knee pain

Glucosamine should specifically be taken as sulfate, as this form fights inflammation effectively, reducing joint pain as we age. I noticed less pain in my knees after a month of consistent use and can now navigate stairs much easier. This product is excellent; if my review aids someone, please give it a like!

As someone who actively participates in sports, glucosamine is a reliable ally. I promptly purchase it as soon as I run out. It visibly alleviated my back and wrist pain within a month. The tablets are easy to swallow—an odourless, tasteless product of great quality from iHerb.

Improved mobility noted

Remarkable Amazing Product! I've taken (2) 750mg NOW brand Glucosamine Sulfate capsules every morning for over four years. I knew it would take months to see improvement in my knee and leg pains, which it did, but it was worth the wait! My mobility is remarkable now, allowing me to walk swiftly without feeling like an old lady. I appreciate that this product lacks unnecessary and expensive additives. I wholeheartedly recommend it, but patience is essential.

I have been using "NOW Foods, Glucosamine Sulfate, 750 mg" for six weeks and am generally satisfied. My intent was to reduce the joint pain and inflammation experienced during physical activities. The 750 mg dosage is effective without being excessive, though it does take time to see results. I've noticed improvements after about three weeks.

Feeling better
I have been suffering from serious back and joint pain. My physical therapist and trainer recommended glucosamine sulfate (GS) and directed me to your website. Although I haven’t been using it for long enough to notice significant changes, I think I am starting to feel better. I intend to continue taking it for a while to determine if it truly helps.
